EFFA’s launch is one of the most anticipated events in Ghana’s environmental calendar. The event will be attended by leading members of government, civil society organizations, students, and media as well as members of the diplomatic corps and international donor agencies. There will be short speeches and presentations, as well as trailers of films that will be screened free of charge to the public during the festival. The rich diversity of films has established EFFA as a unique forum and platform for environmental education in Africa. The success of EFFA has also shown that film is a powerful and unique medium for raising critical awareness about the environment and related issues. This year, exciting films by both Ghanaian and international filmmakers will highlight the significance of Ghana’s maritime environment and its seminal relationship to national security and sustainable development.
